The MEDD-Ecofor project
fault and gallery forests in the south of Mali

Fault and gallery forests in the south of Mali are considered as two paths for the perennity
of guinean refuges in the soudanian Region.

Ecofor is a multidisciplinary projet which aims at understanding the history, current state
and future of the fragmented forests areas in the south of Mali. The general context lies
within climatic and anthropic activities evolution.

Rodents are here considered as :
      - Biological indicators of the habitat health,
      - Supports for genetic analyses about the evolutive history of their populations in
the geographic context of forest fragmentation in south of Mali (phylogeography),
      - Contributing to the interactions which initiated these habitats dynamics (ecology).

The attached illustrations are in French. They cover (i) the project as it has been proposed
to MEDD (http://www.gip-ecofor.org), (ii) a synthetic slideshow presented at the launch
meeting (Paris, November 2006) and (iii) an intermediary (also known as 'launch') report.
