Contribution of phylogeography to species conservation
the case of Leopoldamys neilli in South-East Asia

South-East Asia has large concentrations of isolated limestone karst mountain ranges within which virtually unknown
endemic species are found. Among those is the rodent species Leopoldamys neilli.

Habitat fragmentation has led to differentiation of several genetic lineages of this species (vicariance).
Within a conservation biology perspective this phenomenon questions the species concept.

   - The slide show is a short overview of the context, research question and results obtained for two endemic
     species or rodents.
   - The research article highlights the impact of karst fragmentation on differentiation of multiple genetic lineages of L.neilli
   - The web page points to the red list description of L.neilli
